{"id":1735,"date":"2024-09-19T12:34:21","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T16:34:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cookbook.maynardfolks.com\/?p=1735"},"modified":"2024-09-19T12:34:21","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T16:34:21","slug":"ham-and-bean-soup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookbook.maynardfolks.com\/?p=1735","title":{"rendered":"Ham and Bean Soup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><u>Ingredients<\/u>:<\/b><br \/>\n1 package HamBeens\u00ae 15 BEAN SOUP\u00ae with seasoning packet<br \/>\n8 cups reduced sodium chicken broth or chicken stock<br \/>\n1 meaty ham bone or ham hocks, diced ham or 1 lb. cooked sausage<br \/>\n1 medium yellow onion diced<br \/>\n1 clove garlic minced<br \/>\n1 teaspoon chili powder optional<br \/>\n15 ounces canned diced tomatoes with juices, 1 can<br \/>\n1 lemon juiced<br \/>\nhot sauce or red pepper flakes to taste, optional<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Directions<\/u>:<\/b><br \/>\nRinse the beans and drain. Sort any unwanted debris and set seasoning packet aside.<br \/>\nIn a 6qt crockpot, add the beans, broth, ham bone (if using), onion, garlic, and chili powder in a 6qt slow cooker. Do not add lemon or tomatoes until the beans are softened.<br \/>\nCook on high for 5 hours (or low for 7-8) or until the beans are tender.<br \/>\nOnce the beans are tender, remove the ham bone (if using), chop any meat left on the bone, and add it back to the slow cooker.<br \/>\nStir in the diced tomatoes, ham seasoning packet, and lemon juice.<br \/>\nCook for an additional 30 minutes.
