Ingredients:
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
1/2 cup whole milk
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
In a small bowl, sprinkle the active dry yeast over the warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole milk, granulated sugar, softened unsalted butter, salt, and one egg. Add the yeast mixture and stir well.
Gradually add the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it’s doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by combining the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle.
Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough.
Roll the dough up tightly from the long side, creating a log.
Cut the log into 12 even pieces.
Place the pieces, cut side up, in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the tops of the buns.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they’re golden brown and cooked through.
While the buns are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar, whole milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
Drizzle the glaze over the warm buns.
